Environment Initiatives
Greenlayer was founded in the Pacific Northwest by a group of endurance athletes looking to make a difference in sport and the environment. We recognized a growing need for environmentally responsible performance apparel in the marketplace and made it our goal to educate consumers and provide them with expanded performance and lifestyle apparel options. Starting in the grassroots level of sport and racing, Greenlayer has developed a following of athletes that are as passionate about sport as they are the environment in which they train and race.
In our continued efforts to support the environment, we are partnered with and support the following groups:
COUNCIL FOR RESPONSIBLE SPORT
The Council for Responsible Sport or ReSport provides an independent, comprehensive certification for sustainable athletic events. By defining realistic objectives and providing a framework for achieving them, ReSport enables event directors to incorporate environmental responsibility into their events while informing consumers which events adhere to their standards. Greenlayer supports the mission of the Council for Responsible Sport and sponsors the CRS Field Team with recycled performance apparel.
ECO-LOGISTICS
Eco-Logistics is dedicated to helping event organizers tackle the challenges of staging environmentally friendly mass-participant sporting events. Founded by longtime Nike executive Keith Peters and his partner Lee Barrett, Eco-Logistics offers event organizers the benefit of over 30 years of both road race and solid waste management experience. Greenlayer supports the initiatives and instruction Eco-Logistics provides events surrounding environmentally conscious practices.
REPREVE
REPREVE® is part of a family of recycled fabric technologies developed by Unifi- which has one of the most the most extensive arrays of recycled fibers in the global textile market. REPREVE® fabric undergoes a comprehensive certification and verification program designed to provide REPREVE® customers with a new level of traceability, transparency and certified sustainability. Many of the products in the Greenlayer line utilize Repreve fabrics.
TEXTILE EXCHANGE
Textile Exchange works to increase the global market for sustainable fibers, focusing initially on those that are bio-based, organic, and recycled while retaining a core focus on organic cotton. Greenlayer is a member of the Textile Exchange and supports the efforts of this organization to bring standardization to the apparel industry and provide supply chain transparency.
