FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Greenlayer Screen Print and Embroider?

For bulk orders, we can embroidery and print at our manufacturing facility. We offer a water based dye sublimation process, standard screening printing, and embroidery. Minimums apply when printing with our manufacturer- we prefer orders to be 400-500 pieces and higher for this service.

For smaller team/club orders or other domestic printing and embroidery projects, we have a network of preferred printers and embroidery that are skilled at working with our products and offer our customers competitive price points. Please ask us for our preferred Screen Printer and Embroidery list when placing your order.

Art Tips: How to make sure your art is in the correct format for screen printing
Vector artwork is required for printing. If vector is not available, art charges may apply.
Make sure to convert all text to outlines or let us know all the font names.

If you have specific or strict color matching requests, we will need to know the exact colors you want to use via the Pantone system. The Pantone Matching System is the industry standard, with hundreds and hundreds of colors to choose from.

Pantone color charts can be found in most art stores and are sold online. Click here for an online Pantone color chart You can also reference the online Pantone Color charts, but be aware that colors can vary depending upon the computer monitor. You can also send us color swatches and we’ll do the matching for you.

Keep in mind that we are an apparel company, not a printing company or a graphics design firm. We can provide you with a comprehensive list of reliable printers and embroiders that are experienced with our fabrics- and tips to make the process work smoothly with printers. We make the designs our customers ask us to produce. If you want us to create an original design from scratch, please scroll down to the bottom of the page for more information on our in-house design services. If you want us to assist in the printing process, please contact us for services and fees.

Print Ready Art: What is vector art and how do I tell if my art is print ready?

Vector Art: Typically vector art is created in Adobe Illustrator and comes in the following extensions: AI, EPS, PDF.

Please provide vector artwork for all logo’s and text. Make sure the text is outlined so that we use the extra font in the artwork. Vector art is required for print production and to produce high quality graphics on your apparel.

Bitmap Art: Typically created in Adobe Photoshop and comes in the following extensions: JPEG, TIF, PSD. This type of artwork does not print well.

The only time Bitmap artwork is permitted is if it is being used as a photographic effect. Bitmap art is comprised of small pixels- the higher the resolution, the clearer the image. Photoshop bitmap images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and all layers should be intact.

Tips on Vector art: If you have sponsors, most companies have an EPS version of their logo. The marketing departments often have this format. Remember, logos taken from websites are low resolution and will NOT WORK.

Apparel Printing

We offer two types of printing options for customers. On light colored garments, we utilize a water-based dye sublimation. Sublimation is a process where ink is forced into the apparel fiber, making it permanent and permeable, meaning it allows moisture to move through the fabric. This is ideal for active wear pieces, as opposed to standard screen printing where the ink is placed on the surface of the fabric, which blocks the fabrics pores and does not allow the garment to breathe. It also means that your designs can cross seams. For example, sleeves to front panel and side panels to front panels.

Screen Printing is often used on darker colored apparel, when dye sublimation is not an option.

Do you have art templates?

Yes, please contact sales@greenlayersports.com if you would like templates for placing your art.

Make your choice of color from our color palette available on the ordering page. Pantone equivalents have been provided in order to give an idea of the final printed color and for design reference. Please note that due to the nature of the screen printing and sublimation processes, our printing inks may not exactly match the Pantone equivalents.

Please provide the dimensions of the art (height and width)- this saves printers and designers time and takes the guesswork out of your art work. If you do not know what size you need, we can make our best estimate for you.

Pricing

Apparel price points are subject to the volume ordered and printing requirements. Please contact a sales rep for a price sheet at sales@greenlayersports.com.
