Greenlayer had all hands on deck for the 2011 edition of the Surf City USA Marathon and Half Marathon. La Sportiva Mountain Cup Kicks Off

The 2011 La Sportiva Mountain Cup Kicks off this Saturday, February 5th with the Ophir Uwharrie Mountain Run in Ophir, NC. Participants in this sold-out 20 mile event can expect to stay dry in moisture-wicking 50% recycled polyester Greenlayer tees. La Sportiva has announced that it will debut its “Going the Distance” tech tee program in at the Ophir event. Limited edition Uwharrie tees will be available for only $15, with all proceeds donated to the local Land Trust for Central North Carolina. Limited edition shirt sales from each La Sportiva Mountain Cup event will go toward efforts to raise $15,000 for local/regional charities throughout the season.

Holly Brooks wins U.S. XC Ski Championships

Greenlayer sponsored athlete Holly Brooks earned her first national title in the Sprint Classic at the U.S. Cross-Country Ski Championships in Rumford, Maine. Brooks, who never qualified for a national championship meet while attending Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA has now risen to the international stage six years after graduating. Next up: the newly-crowned national champion will represent the U.S. at the 2011 World Championships in Oslo, Norway in February. Good luck Holly!

Greenlayer Dives into Water Sports

Greenlayer expanded its product offering to water sports as an official sponsor of the inaugural Oregon Open Ocean Stand Up Paddleboard Race on August 28th, 2010. The first of its kind, the Oregon Ocean Classic is a 7.5 mile race from Beverly Beach State Park to Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon. One way Race Director Robert Finlay helped to make his event more environmentally conscious is by partnering with Greenlayer, who provided the race jerseys given to each participant.

Twenty stand-up paddle enthusiasts, including surf legend Gerry Lopez, braved the rough shore break and intense ocean conditions to compete in this groundbreaking event. Lopez called it a “great race” and applauded event organizers, volunteers, and supporters. The race for second place in the 14’ division was a race a highlight, with Steve Gates (father of Greenlayer’s Erin Gates) and Dino Andereggen sprinting up the beach for a diving photo finish.

Successful Back to Back Weekends at Vineman

The Vineman 25^th anniversary weekend for the Full and 70.3 events was a success for the event and athletes. Athletes enjoyed slightly cooler temperatures than previous years to celebrate the 25^th anniversary of the event. Greenlayer performance tee’s were utilized as the official athlete shirt as well as for parts of the onsite merchandise product. Vineman put together a beautiful assortment of athlete shirt art and designs. Greenlayer is proud to support Vineman and would like to congratulate them on another great event!
